I have never seen (or heard!) so many goldfinches in my life. Multiple nests have fledged and my thistle feeder is the place to eat and get the latest goldfinch gossip. There were around 12 on the feeder this morning, but of course by the time I got the camera most had retreated, peeping squeakily from every tree and bush and flower in the area. It was most adorable!
Meanwhile, the gray squirrels have rediscovered the feeders and are making nuisances of themselves.

I just love squirrels--they're smart and playful and I think of them as my totem animal. (But don't worry, I won't assault your feeders!) The goldfinches don't seem to dig my thistle feeder; no idea why.
As long as they're not digging up plants I love squirrels.
We don't have feeders, but golfinches are all over the coneflowers this time of year. September is a very entertaining month in the garden!
All of my goldfinches must be at your house this year. I've had some but not as many as in years past.
Last year I would walk out the front door and a black & gold cloud would lift from the sunflowers and head for the telephone wires. It was one of the most amazing things to witness.
Maybe I didn't plant enough sunflowers for them or something.

Those are some great action shots! PS-I tagged you for a meme--stop by my blog to see what it is!
