First day after turning the clocks back. The sun rises earlier, and it's nice to wake up to this: Acer x freemanii, a red-silver hybrid maple - thank you, Chicago Dept. of Forestry!

I recently completed my doctorate in evolutionary biology at the University of Illinois - Chicago. Now I'm living the rural life in Colorado's Front Range with Too Much Coffee Husband, Foley the greyhound, and Sammie the Wonder Mutt.

The midwestern U.S.! I think it's the prettiest time of year but sadly it's short-lived.
