Lovely photos of your garden which is blooming profusely. Love the milkweed post too! I too a lover of Monarchs and only just saw my first butterfly and the eggs she laid... I do take the plants that are growing in the paths in for I must mow! I try to give the little critters as much of a natural environment (sans predators) as possible. Releasing the butterflies is so magical.

Rose - The yellow flower is a Rudbeckia hirta of unknown variety, possibly 'Marmalade' but that's just a guess. Home Depot just called it R. hirta and was selling it as an annual, but I'm hoping it will self-sow b/c it has such juicy fat flowers and I love it!

Diane, You have so many lovely blooms in your garden! Somehow with your program of studies I pictured you with a much smaller garden, but you have such variety here. I love the yellow flowers--are they brown-eyed Susans? I planted just a few this year for the first time, but am still waiting for blooms. The milkweed is gorgeous this time of year, but my husband would never allow me to plant any here next to the cornfields:) I hope Scooter returns with all his friends! And Foley is a beauty!

Everyday is bloom day in our gardens...for sure! Aren't we lucky to have so much bounty! Prairie garden teetering on thre brink of explosion is a wonderful description...I love the way the prairie flowers growing at c&l have a wonderful earthy smell to them! Have you noticed that? gail
